Palliative Pavilion Wilhelminenspital in Vienna, Austria has been nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2013.

The site of the new building, between pavilion 23 in the east and the pavilion 22 in the west, has a substantial amount of conifer and deciduous trees. The design focused on keeping as many as possible of the existing tree population.
33 of the existing 44 trees have been kept.
